stupid Rx-7

Postby rockyz » Sat Apr 04, 2009 6:05 pm

My Rx7 is basically my weekend fun car but recently my dad started daily driving it to work. One day I drove home and noticed some liquid underneath the car. I finally popped the hood today and found out the problem. The waterpump is leaking :( I thought since I have the hood popped lets get some work done. Changed the BAC valve to the one from my old car so hopefully no more weird idle during cold-start. I ordered a new O2 sensor when I bought the car as a normal maintenance item and I haven't installed it since. So I decided to do it. When unplugging the sensor I accidentally pulled the plug off one of the wires and it's in such an odd position that it'll take days to get the plug back on the wire. Will probably do some ghetto wiring/electric-taping in the future but I'm done for today.

Anyone know how much work it is to replace a waterpump? I'm also replacing all the hoses and installing a Koyo radiator in the process.

you're going about this all wrong rocky.

the proper way to fix your rx7 is to go to hinson supercars, get their LS swap kit and put an LS2 in there.

With the money for a swap, I could save up for a proper car like a E46 M3.

Good point, get a proper car haha. Sucks about the water pump, hopefully it's easier than on a TTZ, I couldn't imagine it being worse. I saw an RX-7 racecar on craigslist for $500, I really want to buy it...

It's a breeze, there's a bunch of space in the engine bay. Got bored today and snapped a few pics of my dirty car:
